Renewing Your UK passport
What do you do if your passport expires while you are in Thailand? Renewing the UK passport used to be simple and uncomplicated; one had to only drop in at the British Embassy when you are in Bangkok and get the renewal done. Now if you want to do it, you will renew it at the British High Commission in Hong Kong. The application goes by DHL to Hong Kong, checked and forwarded to IPS London. London then passes it back to Thailand by DHL.
It is better idea, to pay one of the travel agents, the fees necessary for renewal and they will do everything for you. The best part is that you do not have to give your passport either during the period you wait for application to be processed. This is a 2-3 week typical waiting period.
